A Few Words about Rajgir
Blessed with the footsteps of Gautama Buddha, Rajgir is one of the oldest towns in India. It has been the seat of the Magadha dynasty until the 5th century, when Ajatsatru, the son of king Bimbisara moved the capital to Patliputra, modern day Patna. Legend has it that the infamous king Jarasandha, who was killed by lord Krishna hailed from this place. The remains of the more than thousand year old fortification wall erected by Ajatsatru still stand on the outskirts of the city, putting up their last fight before dissolving into oblivion. Enjoying a monumental position in the pages of Indian history, Rajgir is replete with remains of a bygone era lying astray in and around the town. Rajgir is connected to Patna by rail. The Patna airport is 107 km away. It is also well connected via road to Patna, Gaya, Delhi, and Kolkata.

Travel Tips
Do not miss the ropeway ride to the Shanti Stupa. Take a bath at the famous hot spring if you go there in winter. When out on local sight seeing, do not hire a car but a horse driven tonga, which gives leaves a different taste in your mouth. And if you are a photography buff carry a good supply of camera rolls with you-the stock will be exhausted before you know.
