About Khajjiar
Popularly known as the Switzerland of Himachal, Khajjiar is famous for its splendid meadow amidst a lush dense pine forest. At an altitude of 1960m Khajjiar offers the marvelous view of the snow clad Pir Panjal range peeping out from above the lush pine foliage. The dense forest surrounding it are home to the Himalayan mountain bears, which again makes this place the ideal site for the Kalatop sanctuary. Though located in between Chamba and Dalhousie, Khajjiar is a perfect getaway from the din and bustle of these two towns. It is 22 km from Chamba and 24 km from Dalhousie by road. The nearest airport is at Gaggal in Kangra, 180 km away. The highest point in the surroundings is Jot, a short drive away from Khajjiar.

Travel tips
The horse ride round the Khajjiar meadow is a must-do. It is almost a stretch of 2 km and you can of course go round and round for as long as you want until your spine gives way.
Khajjiar is a rare gift of nature and its our duty to preserve it in all its grace. So please do not litter the place with bottles and plastic packets .
Accommodation available
Most of the tourists make the mistake of visiting Khajjiar from Dalhousie without any plan of staying there. Khajjiar therefore does not offer you a huge number of hotels to choose from. However all the hotels are built around the meadow and guarantee a splendid view. The Himachal Tourism hotel called Hotel Deodar with its log cottages is the oldest and was for long the only hotel in Khajjiar. Among the new ones is Hotel Mini Swiss. However you must keep in mind that since all the material all culinary ingredients has to be carried to Khajjiar from Chamba or Dalhousie, accommodation is not very cheap here.
