Asia’s premier aircraft and defence exhibition, the Aero India Show has been in existence since 1996. This was when the first Aero India Show was held in Bangalore and ever since, the grand air show has always been a much-awaited event for the aviation industry and its potential customers alike. The history of Aero India Show throws light on the various aerospace shows that have taken place in the past.

The success of the first ever Aero India Show in 1996 paved the way for a number of aerospace shows in India that received a good response in terms of the number of participants and visitors to the event. This was reflected in the 4th edition of the Aero India Show that was held in 2003. Nearly 176 exhibitors from 22 countries the world over participated at the event. The event also received high-level delegations from several countries – USA, Europe, Russia, Middle East, Asia-Pacific and Africa, to name a few.

Aero India Show history further suggests that the number of participants increased at the 5th edition of the India Air Show in 2005 that witnessed the participation of around 380 companies that comprised some of the world-famous producers of civil and military aircrafts as well as other service providers of aerospace and airfield upgrade. The show not only included static exhibits of the latest aircrafts but also included various live air displays by a number of fighter jets, advanced light helicopters and maritime surveillance aircrafts. The Indian Air Force and Indian Navy also took part at the Aero India 2005 along with nearly 32 military delegations from various countries.

After a host of these previous aerospace shows in India, the next Aero India Show is slated to take place from February 7-11, 2007 at the Yelahanka Air Force Base in Bangalore. The venue for all the past India Air Shows as well as the 2007 Aero India Show is Bangalore, the ‘Garden City’ of Karnataka in India.
