The sixth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas to be held in the year 2008 would be organized by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs and the Confederation of Indian Industry and would be held from January 7th to 9th. The event would be inaugurated by the Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh and the valedictory session would be addressed by the President of India, Mrs. Pratibha Patil.

The main objective of the sixth Pravasi Bhartiya Divas 2008 would be to bring the expertise and knowledge of Indian Diaspora and integrating it with the development process of India. The event would include plenary sessions on diverse themes with eminent speakers putting their views on diverse issues. The main focus of the event would be interactive session of the Indian Diaspora with the state governments, business networking and trade and industrial exhibition to showcase India's economic capabilities and services.

The plenary sessions of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2008 would include discussion on various issues like challenges of development in Indian Context, how to bridge the NRI-PIO divide, Leveraging Technology for development, youth, women, healthcare etc.
