The Dubare Elephant camp in Coorg, home to around 150 elephants kept by the Forest Department is a historical camp. Recreation and conference facilities
Watching and understanding the elephants and contributing to their cause is one of the most satisfying recreation for the guests staying at the elephant
camp in Coorg. They can watch the elephants given scrub baths in the river and oil massages by the Mahouts, who take care of them just like their children. They can also see how food is prepared and fed to the elephants. The elephant are also trained by the mahouts to perform activities such as mock logging operations, lifting, stacking and piling logs symmetrically with the help of more than 4000 muscles in their trunks. Dubare elephant camp in Karnataka also has a Naturalist who explains all aspects of elephants, their living, history and conservation for better understanding of the tourists. The guests can also enjoy a 45 min to 1 hour Elephant ride through the Dubare Reserve Forest and have the time of their lives.
