Mysore:
Approximately 140 kilometers from Bangalore is located the city of palaces, Mysore. Re-christened from the pre-colonial Kannada name, Mysuru, is famous for its historical monuments, beautiful temples and handicrafts.
Originally Mysore was the political capital of the Wodeyar Dynasty, the ruler so the state of Karnataka for over 150 years. This historic city of Mysore still retains the grandeur, charm and elegance of the past.

Mysore offers the renowned Brindavan Gardens. The beautiful terrace garden is lined by water courses. Stretching over 150 acres, the Brindavan Gardens showcase the beautiful Dancing Fountains.
The celebrated Mysore Palace is worth a visit. This Indo-Saracenic style palace with its magnificently decorated arches and domes is a reminder of Mysore’s glorious past. The jewel-studded golden throne of the ruoler is displayed to the public only on Dussera.
A few kilometers from the city of Mysore lies Srirangapatnam, the summer palace of Tipu Sultan.
The Mysore Zoo is also a favorite tourist spot as it houses some rare species of animals.
The Jaganmohan Palace is now converted to an art gallery which displays artifacts of the golden era of Mysore. The well-known Mysore golden-leaf paintings are also displayed here.
